At the Forefront of Healthcare Transformation

The Illinois Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (ILHITREC), based at Northern Illinois University, has supported thousands of Illinois providers and practices annually in quality improvement, meaningful use, and incentive program participation.

ILHITREC has facilitated the implementation of federal and state health IT initiatives throughout Illinois, linking providers with the resources they needed through partnerships, access to subject matter experts, funding, and other tools.  ILHITREC’s goal has been to help facilitate healthcare transformation to meet a variety of national goals, including:

  • Improve quality, efficiency and reduce health disparities
  • Engage patients and families in their healthcare
  • Improve care coordination
  • Improve population and public health
  • Maintaining privacy and security
  • Reduce healthcare costs

Below are a few ILHITREC projects and success stories from the past 12 years. Please select any of these for more details on the program.
